In Queensland, a roadworthy certificate (or safety certificate) is valid for 2,000 kilometres or 2 months—whichever comes first—for private vehicle sellers. For dealers, it’s valid for 1,000 kilometres or 3 months. After that, a new inspection is required if the vehicle hasn’t been transferred or registered.
